Every so often in this business a disaster strikes and last week my mini disaster(Mini? Well, I could think of worse things that could happen:-)) came in the form of a complete system crash. The summer months are traditionally a quiet period in the home business world. Most people are more interested in booking their latest holiday in the sun, than thinking about setting up a home business. My sales have been steady though - June was actually a very good month for me - in terms of sales.

Lately I've been concentrating mostly on updating my blogs, and keeping contact with my mailing list. You may have noticed:-)

The magic thing about building a mailing list is that a short email - written in about 10 minutes - can bring an influx of new affiliate sales for me. My subscribers are certainly a lot more responsive than when I first got started online. I barely got a visitor in the early years. I stuck at it though and every email I send now brings 100s of visitors to my offers.

The secret is not to give up. Many aspects of marketing your home business will take quite a while to come together. Personally, mine has taken years rather than months. Some internet marketers come online and far outdo my progress within a few short months - others NEVER make it at all.

If you've visited ANY website owned by internet marketers then you will have become familiar with the usual optin email form, urging and cajoling website visitors to add their email address, in return for a free ebook or e-course.

If you have ever taken the bait then you will have been added to this marketers email list which usually includes following up with regular emails.

What surprises me a lot is that many people on my list are not aware that when I follow up after they signup to my mailing list - the emails go out automatically.

It would be physically impossible to send so many emails to so many people. It certainly could not be done individually, given the size of some email lists - sometimes running into 100,000s. Mine is a modest 11,000 strong. Can you imagine having to email my subscribers individually, personalizing each one? Not a chance!

The truth is that I and other online business owners use autoresponders to send out regular email to our lists.

Autoresponders can be programmed to go out at set intervals and can also be personalized with the recipients name and other particulars - depending on the complexity of the website form from which they joined the list.

Getting an autoresponder is as simple as signing up for an online account. The difficult part is coming up with targeted and interesting information for those that join your mailing list.

Email courses are commonly used to sell products and services. For instance, if you sell widgets, you might develop a course that teaches people how to use widgets or how to care for their widget. Experts agree that an email course can be written for almost any product that you can imagine – if you put enough thought into it.

Once you have your course written you simply add the course to your automatic responder and set the intervals a few days apart. The initial email goes out immediately.

Once this is done you add a web form, usually provided by the autoresponder company, to your website to collect your website visitors name, and email.

Most automatic responder web services, or at least the best ones, provide a function that allows you to broadcast to your email list anytime you need to. This is useful to send out your current offers, recommendations, or rebates.

If you are serious about running a successful internet business then you must have an email response system in place. No self respecting internet marketer would be without one.

Whether you are aware of it or not, your subconscious mind controls every aspect of your life. It changes your mood, controls your body and is largely responsible for your achievements in life.

Big claims huh? Particularly for something so few people really know anything about.

Your subconscious mind runs every aspect of your body and runs it under the surface, which means you go about your every day life without actually being that away of it. All you notice is your mood suddenly changing, you getting down about something or feeling upset about something.

Subconscious mind programming is something we should all learn to do as it really helps you get the most from life. It is not something you do once and forget about, but like going to the gym to get fit, it’s something you need to do regularly and consistently in order to get lasting and permanent results.

Your next big question, I am sure is, “How do I program my subconscious mind?”

The first step is not glamorous or exciting, but is very simple. It’s to become aware of your subconscious mind patterns. This means noticing what your subconscious mind is saying, feeling and doing. Your subconscious mind talks to you all day long, it’s just most people learn to tune this voice out because it is a constant droning.

Start to pay attention to what is going on in your head when your mood suddenly changes and, particularly, when you find yourself experiencing negative emotions.

Once you start to become aware of your subconscious mind patterns it’s time to start some subconscious mind programming.

In its simplest form, this is becoming aware of the negative patterns in your subconscious mind and countering them with the positive opposite. My book, Subconscious Mind Programming For Maximum Success tells you many more techniques, but this is a great place to start.

For example, if you find yourself saying you can’t all the time, start to counter it by saying either out loud or in your mind “I can” over and over again. This will very quickly overpower the can’t and knock it from your subconscious mind completely.

Becoming aware of your subconscious mind patterns and then programming them through countering them with a positive and opposite affirmation really works and is an easy way to start your subconscious mind programming.
