A Note from Mal Keenan

Greetings friends,
As always a warm welcome to those of you who have joined us since our last issue of HBT Newsletter.

Christmas is almost upon us and as I can see from my email inbox there is a rush on to get out the biggest bestest package and reign in some cash for what is traditinally a slow time in online business.

I personally won't be doing too much over the next few weeks and would prefer to wait 'til the new year when things pick up again.

As usual though, I have been keeping busy over the past month or two since our last issue. Recently I bought a copy of Camtasia video software and created a step by step guide on how to create a blog at your own website server. You can get it below in the free download section. if you can understand my Irish accent then you'll do well.

Just this past week I have installed a new script for my article database. The previous script was created by Mambo and although it is a fantastic tool it just didn't serve my needs. You can have a look at the new site and script in action here: Internet Home Business Article Database.

I have also been busy creating some more sites for Google Adsense. My little web business empire is growing and hopefully someday will amount to a tidy sum in residual monthly income. I have also been thinking that it would be a good idea to create a step by step guide, using my Camtasia Studio Video software, on setting up these adsense sites and pay someone to do it for me. With a step by step guide on how I do it myself they can't go wrong. I know there are people available in the less developed countries that will do this for pennies.

This is only a small sample of what I have been doing since we last met. I work fulltime from home now thanks to Plug in Profits so I am online mostly everyday slaving away. I have been doing so since december 2004. It's better than being down a coalmine though:-).

Every business need products or services to sell and without these you DO NOT have a businesss. Makes sense, right?

If you are thinking of starting an online business you need to decide whether you want to sell your own products or whether you want to do as I do and sell other peoples' for commissions.

I have been making a full-time income from home as an Affiliate Marketer since 2004. I sell other people products and services.

If you are new to online marketing you may not believe it is possible to sell without ones own products. I was convinced when the company checks started rolling in.

Let us first look at some ideas for creating your own product.

Discovering what people need and want is tantamount to finding a lucrative market for your work at home business. There are three things you should look for in determining the profitability of a particular market:

1. How great is the demand? 2. How scarce is the supply? Or restated, how much competition will you encounter? 3. Will you be able to provide for this demand?

If the answer to all the three considerations above are favorable, then you have for yourself a good market that your online home business can cater to.

Of course, there are some tricks and tactics that you could use to find ideal markets. Here are some of them:

* Go to www.inventory.overture.com or www.nichebot.com and type in the type of business you wish to pursue. The results will show how many searches were made, direct or related, for that particular subject over the past few weeks.

* Make a search for the same business type in any of the search engines. These results will show how abundant or scarce your competition will be.

* From time to time, there are special reports that are published which enumerate hot niches waiting to be exploited. Niches, of course, are highly specialized markets that most businesses tend to overlook.

Once you find a market, it's time to come up with a product. Information products, ie. E-books, are the most ideal for your online home business. They can be digitally delivered, and they don't require physical space for stocking.

There are four popular ways by which you could come up with an information product for your online home business:

* You could create these products yourself. Maybe you are an expert in a certain area? Could you write a special report? Don't forget to check out if there is a demand for the info as outlined above.

* You could hire someone to create them for you. Elance.com is a favourite for online marketers to have products created and I have used them on quite a few occasions myself.

* You could use existing products that have been created by others, through the purchase of their resale rights.

Then there is Affiliate Marketing.....

You can join affiliate programs in 1000s of different markets in almost any topic imaginable and choose to pre-sell any of the products they have to offer. As mentioned above this is my preferred method.

When choosing affiliate products you want something of quality which also offers high commissions. Most quality affiliate programs will also offer tools in the form of graphics and pre-written ad copy to help you make your money.

Some affiliate programs will offer 75% commission to you for selling their service online. I would be looking for at least 50%, especially for low priced products like e-books.

For high priced items, marketing seminars, marketing course etc. I would expect 30-50%.

The benefits of selling affiliate products is that you don't have to worry about payment processors nor product support, which can be a nightmare.

Selling affiliate products frees up a lot of my time. The way I see it, there is no point working at home unless it allows me more freedom to do the things I like to do.

Whether you choose your own product or to go the affiliate route there is a lot of money to be made, IF you do the right things.

We all wish to be successful and yet somehow we seem to be missing the target. In this article we will show you how to become more successful in all your endeavors.

Success often eludes many people. Like the inevitable pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, people set their hearts on following their dreams only to wake up disappointed. Disappointment can be crushing to people. They sit and wonder what on earth they did wrong. They may have a strong belief in that pot of gold, but a dream alone cannot make your visions a reality.

You may have read a myriad of books and followed all the rules and imagined yourself as the successful person that you want to be. Your vision may be crystal clear and that is a good thing. The Bible says, "Without a vision the people perish". The problem remains that envisioning yourself as successful is not enough.

What are your dreams?
What are you hopes for the future?
Have you ever written them down?

If you could be anything that you wanted to be and go where you wanted to go, who would you be? What would you be like? Where would you be living?

I want you to take a few moments now and write down the answer to these questions. Be as specific as you can so you can visualize these things as being true today. Crystallize these ideals in your mind.

Don't cheat here, this is an important exercise, now go and write the answers down on a piece of paper, or better still in a book. You can call this your Dream Book to Success.

Now ask yourself this question: What do I need to do in order to live the life I dream of?

What do I need to do to make my dreams a reality?

The first step is to make sure you do not put off the vision too far in the distance. Don't live on tomorrow's sunshine. At the same time, don't expect to have a change overnight. There is no magic pill that is going to bring about your dream. There is no easy road that will bring you to the Emerald City.

Someone once said "the road to success is filled with hard knocks" and this is reality.

You CAN achieve your dreams only if you systematically prepare yourself to receive them. You also must believe that you CAN receive them.

Henry Ford said, "If you think you can you can, and if you think you can't, you can't"

If you believe that you CAN achieve your dreams then it's time for you to start planning on how you are going to make your dreams of success come true. Don't let fear sabotage your thinking. If you have faith, you can move mountains! Sometimes though a mountain must be moved a piece at a time.

This takes planning. No amount of wishful thinking will get you what you want. Your vision may be crystal clear but with out a plan it's just a dream. You need to plan your life in order to get the results you wish for.

You need to set goals for yourself. I know, you hate the thought of setting goals, but unless you put it down in writing and give it a date, it won't happen. I can guarantee it.

Do you see yourself as slim and sitting on a beach somewhere? Well if you need to lose weight, dreaming isn't going to make it happen. You must write down your goal for losing weight.

In order for my dream to come true I must lose __________ pounds. This is a good start. Now visualize yourself standing in front of a mirror weighing your perfect weight. Doesn't that feel good?

This is your target, your dream, your vision. Now ask yourself, in order to reach that goal, what steps do I need to take today. Is it reasonable to say to yourself that you could lose 10 pounds a month? Too much? How about 4 pounds a month? Can you make a decision to yourself to lose 1 pound a week. In a year that would be 52 pounds! If you lost 2 pounds a week that would be 104 pounds! See how much you can do by breaking your goals down to bite size pieces. Your mountain can literally be moved piece by piece, or pound by pound in this example. Voila ! Success!

There is nothing mystical in making your dreams a success. In every situation you can do it piece by piece until your mountain is moved and you achieve Success.
