FEATURE Q&A - Turnkey Dropship Websites Save You Time, Trouble and Money
===================================

By Tim Knox

This question was submitted by Subscriber Sara C., who gets to select any ebook in Tim's library as a reward for asking the question.

Q:
I would like to start an online dropshipping business, but I have no idea how to get started. I would like to specialize in giftware and accessories. Where do I find products and how do I get set up a website without any technical knowledge?

A:
In the good old days of the Internet, i.e. last year, it took a considerable amount of effort to launch an ecommerce website, especially one that offered dropship merchandise.

The to-do list for building even a small site was extensive.

You first had to find a company who would dropship merchandise for you. Believe it or not, there was not a dropshipper on every corner of the Web back then.

Once you found such a company, you had to set up a formal business account with them, which often meant filling out forms, jumping through hoops, providing them with proof of a business license, a tax ID number, a pint of blood, the promise of your first born, and on and on.

Then the real fun began.

You had to tear apart the company's print catalogs and scan in the pictures of merchandise you wanted to sell on the site.

You had to build the website by hand with an HTML editor, and type in all the product descriptions and prices, which made updating the site a manual nightmare. Changing $1.95 to $2.95 could literally take half an hour.

You had to find a dependable hosting company to host the site. This was harder than you might think. Finding a dependable hosting company in the golden age of the Internet was like finding a painless dentist in the old west. They just didn't exist. You had to opt for the hosting company that you hoped would cause you the least amount of pain. And you were always wrong.

You had to register a domain name. This part was fairly simple, IF you had the genius IQ required to think up a coherent domain name that was not already taken by another business or a &^%$# cyber-squatter (low level life forms who register domain names and ransom them to individuals and companies that could really use them).

And when you finally think you have thought of everything there is to think of, that you have done everything that needs to be done, you launch the site amid little fanfare and much prayer.

Then it suddenly occurs to you (always in the middle of the night) that the only thing you forgot to build in to your new site is a way for your customers to pay for their purchase online with a credit card (there was no Pay Pal in the dark ages, my child.).

You awake in a cold sweat and finally understand why you haven't sold a single Beanie Baby since your site was launched.

Ah, the good old days. Thank God they are gone.

Lucky for you and me, Beth, there are now a number of companies on the Web that can help folks like us set up a turnkey dropship website without ever breaking a sweat.

By turnkey, I mean they will provide you with a complete, payment- enabled website and the merchandise to sell on the site. All you do is turn the key (so to speak) to start your new business.

You select the design of the site, the products you want to sell, and they do the rest. They can show you how to setup an online payment system, help you register a domain name, offer technical support, and more.

It is up to you to market the site and drive customers to it, but in some cases the companies will even help you do that with free search engine submissions and marketing tips.

You can also sell the merchandise at online auctions like eBay and Yahoo! Auctions. There is no quicker way to get your dropship business up and running in a matter of days.

Here's to your success!

If you are joining a lot of affiliate programs, as you most certainly are if you're new to online business, then it is a nightmare trying to organise the various email that you get from each program.

To help you do this, create and name a different folder within your email software for each individual affiliate program. That way you can just drop the email into the folders as you receive them or better still set up a message rule to do this automatically.

I use Outlook Express and couldn't possibly find the time to organise all my emails if Outlook wasn't automatically depositiing most of them into the correct folders.

SUCCESS ARTICLE - Is it perfection or achieving your personal best?
===================================

By Kathy J. Marshack, Ph.D.

As the ball flew past the keeper into the goal for the second time, I watched the young player burst into tears and cover her face in shame. My heart went out to this ten-year-old. Even though she has been told a hundred times that it takes a whole team to make a goal or to defend the net, she felt the burden of responsibility for losing the game. Rightly or wrongly, she realized that the "buck stops here." She had failed her team. She and everyone knew it.

Perfectionism is the bane of performance whether it is in academics, the arts or sports. It seems that you can't live with it and you can't live without it . . . that is if you want to perfect your skill and win. Learning to live with it means defining perfectionism in such a way as to bring out the best in a player or performer or student without damaging side effects. Perfectionism need not be bad. In fact, it is the driving force behind excellence of any kind. It only becomes harmful, psychologically and even physically when the person is motivated by fear of failure rather than a love of what they're doing.

So what is the difference between healthy perfectionism or striving for excellence and neurotic perfectionism? Much research has gone into answering this question. It's not always easy to tell if a performer is motivated by neurotic or healthy perfectionism, because perfectionists are good at covering their flaws. However, if you look at the whole person within the environment of their family and/or team, you can spot some telltale signs.

For example, the neurotic perfectionist has (1) a constant need for approval from others, (2) too high standards for he or she to meet, (3) endless anxiety with no way to cope, (4) and no role models of others who handle failures or successes well.

On the other hand, the person with healthy perfectionism is guided by (1) a high need for order and organization, or discipline, (2) reasonable, achievable standards that nevertheless require hard work, (3) a belief that mistakes are opportunities to learn, and (4) role models who accept their own mistakes and encourage them to do their personal best.

The young goalkeeper who failed to defend the goal may or may not be motivated by perfectionism, healthy or neurotic. You don't have to be a perfectionist to feel the sting of defeat. Talented people thrive on competition. Competing with other talented people gives them the challenge they need to achieve excellence. The healthy perfectionist, however, is wise enough to recognize that a less than stellar performance just means he or she has work to do. He or she knows what they are capable of and they push until they meet their goals; then they set new ones to achieve.

Ultimately the talented person who is motivated by perfection to strive for excellence does so because she or he loves to do well. While fear may motivate the neurotic perfectionist, and ultimately prove to be his or her undoing, the healthy perfectionist plays because they love what they do. Performing well is its own reward.
