How do I create a link on my website? How do I link to images? How do I make changes to my webpages?
Like most, I didn’t know a thing about HTML, the nets web language, when I came online. In fact the very site of an exposed web page was enough to send shivers down my spine.
Eventually, I was to buy myself a “Learn HTML in a Weekend” boook from Waterstone bookstore and I learnt the basics. You know what? The so called ‘Internet Gurus’ don’t do HTML - They hire someone to do this for them and that’s great but until you get to that stage I thought you would find this short tutorial helpful.
I received two questions last week on how to create a link in a webpage and another on creating Tables for your page. If you want to organise page into rows and columns then HTML Tables is what you use.
Here’s the first video. I created this to basically show you how to save the sample html file to your computer:
HTML Tutorial 1 - Saving the Sample Page to Your P.C for Practice
The second video opens up the HTML Source Code of the sample page and demonstrates what each tag in the source code corresponds to on the created web page. I also make some changes and refer back to the webpage to show how the changes take effect. Please pause the video frequently until you get the hang of this.
Here’s the Main HTML Tutorial:

NOTE: These videos may take a while to load depending on the speed of your browser. You may also hear the audio quite a while before the video starts. If this happens, wait until the video loads, then click stop on the video, then play. Go get a cup of tea and come back again! You may need to go shopping and come back if you’re connection is really slow.
I am going to upload these videos to Youtube aswel. I’ll let you know when I do.
This is just one of my newsletter subscribers’ questions answered. Over the coming days I will post more answers and include videos where possible.
Hope you find this useful. I would appreciate it if you would leave your comments and also share these videos.
Look out for coming tutorials!
